    The 2489 is tough enough to stand up to the demanding environment of the field-based professional. It is now available with a 486SXLC, 50-MHz processor and internal 8-KB associative high-speed memory cache,
    Rugged dependability
    It is designed to withstand the harshest environments. The sealed magnesium case, firm hinges and monochrome display ensure that the unit can be safely used indoors or out. Rubber bumpers on the case are used to absorb shock. The keyboard and I/O ports are sealed to prevent the elements from affecting the performance of the computer. The displays are also fully ruggedized with shock mounts and sealed by an elastomer gasket to keep out both liquid and dirt. The hard drive is built to withstand the most demanding, rugged environments.
    It comes with a standard full-size 6.6-inch by 4.9-inch monochrome display with an 8.2-inch diagonal viewing area and 64 shades of gray.
    An optional monochrome touch screen with a passive pressure stylus and WIN/PEN software is available.
    Communications
    For the field worker needing office connections, it offers a 28.8-Kbps data/fax modem & built-in speaker phone.
    WAN and LAN
    With integrated wireless WAN & LAN radio adapters, it offers you contact with your data nearly anywhere.
    Options
    A full line of options are available including vehicle docks, chargers, 3.5-in. diskette drive and CD-ROM drive.

    Hardware requirements
    The 2489 Model 600 comes complete and ready to operate-no additional hardware is required.
    Software operating system
    Model 600 allows the customer to select DOS 6.22, Windows 3.11 or Windows 95 to be preinstalled.
    When the monochrome touch screen is ordered for Model 600, the pen extension software must also be ordered.
